Penn state cancels free speech. Penn state apparently not in favor of women's sports. They canceled a speech that was do to be given today by Riley Gaines. So they officially support men competing against women in women's sports. We were Penn state.

Ugh I would never send my kid to Penn State. They hid a sexual child abuse scandal, their professors promote trans, another professor got caught having sex with a dog. Seems like their teaching anything but academics in that school.

Oh give me a break. About 80% of our oil comes from fracking. It is why we're # 1 in oil production. Fracking creates one trillion gallons of radioactive waste water per year. Due to oil and gas exemptions it is unregulated. Fracking waste has been dumped directly into rivers and creeks in PA. It has been taken to sewage treatment plants. It has been spread on roads as dust suppressant and snow melt. It is currently still taken to landfills where it makes its way into drinking water. Who cares about earthquakes. There are cancer clusters. The air is filled with radon. The whole state is well on its way to being one big super fund site. This movies grossly under states that. And the info has been out there for years. Other than that its a good Fracking 101 film

It should have been a no-brainer that if you crack and fracture rock and then later pump all kinds of chemicals into it, that you are not going to be able to tell what the impact on the fresh-water resources, including ground water, wetlands and aquifers is going to be. Once it is gone, it is GONE people!!! It is too late now.

"Perceived contamination". The expert here, does he get paid by fracking interests? "Methane is non-toxic so just fine to drink". People know there's methane in the water when their house explodes. They may never know they're also drinking lots of acetone too. Under high pressure and temperature, normally immiscible organics can be made soluble enough to be "in" the water. You know what would be a great alternative! "Clean", "Safe" nuclear energy, because the sun doesn't shine at night, or something? Right? Holy crap, the "expert" actually said this, not realizing Tenerife uses solar and gets electricity 24/7 how? True, they're smart, but they just use day time energy to fill reservoirs, and us hydroelectric at night. I know "duh" right? Can do the same with wind. Tidal and Geothermal are constant, slap them on the grid and good to go. We "could" be smart too, if we'd turn off AM radio and stop buying the same schtick the oil industry has been pushing, and will keep pushing. Seriously, we do not need ANY more plastics - there is so much plastic in landfills that could be harvested - or we could just RECYCLE but yes, this does not put money in the oil CEO's pockets. Regardless, the claim that we need more fossil fuels to make more plastics is ridiculous. Permanently poisoning our drinking water is a better idea than this? Creating permanently deadly radioactive waste that *cannot* be safely stored anywhere - is better than this? Anyone who thinks nuclear energy is safe, take a look at the world. Notice any nuclear plants or uranium mines affecting anyone adversely? Let's agree to just drop nuclear from the list, we're just not that stupid. Wind, tidal, solar, geothermal, the problem with them is nobody can profit from them unless they're building wind turbines, solar collectors/cells, heat exchangers/turbines and water turbines. Wait, I think this means there's 1) money to be made 2) literally, completely clean unlimited energy and 3) an ignorant voting population. So maybe the only problem here is people currently getting reeking wealthy from fossil fuels are the ONLY reason we should NOT pursue renewables? Ya think?

The chemicals used in the pumping fluid are "designed to kill bacteria, "compress the water" (?) and dissolve minerals." Let's see if this makes sense, liquids are incompressible, does this mean to increase water pressure? That's what the pumps are for right? If you can just add compounds to "compress water" well - sell it! Kill bacteria. Why? Dissolve minerals - why? Actually the chemicals outgassing from fracking holes have been measured and they vary dramatically, and no oil company will tell you this, but it's just liquid toxic waste. A variety of VOCs, organic liquids, anything they want. That all goes "safely" through multiple aquifers? I see methane is making it to the ground water, so what prevents everything else? Nothing. That operation has permanently made the groundwater a health hazard, as there is no way to "refresh" deep aquifers. That's why they are called "fossil water".. Shallow aquifers may someday be flushed enough to clear the waste, but then where does the waste go? It doesn't just get broken down naturally. As far as I can tell there is no limit to what kind of crap that can go into a fracking hole, and there are no laws requiring anyone divulge what was put in them. That is, what was put into people's fresh water supply. DDT? PCBs? Mercury compounds, asbestos? Who knows? I did reads that someone's house blew to splinters due to collecting methane. I don't know if there were casualties. In other words, any time a for-profit venture "guarantees" something safe, you then know it isn't. When people start getting diseases from whatever crap is in their water - where will that company be? I guess they went where all the mining companies went after the money was made - "away" leaving everyone else to deal with their waste.

It's a great place to go to school.
